Beneath this stone,
a lump of clay,
lies Arabella Young,
Who on the twenty fourth of May,
began to hold her tongue.
*epitaph found on a grave marker in an old English cemetery
I saw a great sign this week.
Unspoken words never need mending
Also:
Be careful with your words
Once they are said
they can only be forgiven
not forgotten
Like feathers shook out of a pillow you can never gather all your words back....They float, they drift and they land
It is better to live without any lips than wish you had not "said it out loud"
We have all experienced it to some extent or other.
I want to say that it is not too late to change.
You are never too old.
By the strength of the Lord you can gain control over your tongue. You can shut up.
You can keep your opinion to yourself!
Let's make the world a quieter place!
Let's think before we speak.
Lets pray before we join in.
Lets determine to take control of that small part of our body...the one that can wreck havoc in just moments.
Speak as those who will be judged.
You will be glad that you did. People will think more highly of you and you will be more like Jesus.
Blessings!
Take a few minutes and read James 2 and 3 and meditate on what the Scripture says
DUCT TAPE ANYONE?
You bless me, Marnie!

Thank You Marnie for this e-mail.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to feel good the second the not nice words come out, but once we realize we may have hurt someone, it stings and hurts us even worse.
Also, some of us who have had hurtful words thrown at us, have had to learn to forgive.. Your statement below is so true, we forgive but it is hard to forget. By the Grace of God, He teaches us each and everyday to be more like Jesus.
Have a Wonderful Mother's Day!
Lugeane
Amen Sister. Richard
ReplyDeleteI love the scripture in James 1:19 ...but everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. So often I have to recite that verse over and over again! Joann
ReplyDeleteMarnie I loved this! Tried to copy it but its seems to know copy completely forsome reason. Have you got a hard copy I could have. I have a quote for you..."Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted." Great devotional thought. thanks for sharing your great wisdom. Susan Wellman
