Long Story~ Short

My daughter has a friend.   She does not know the Lord.  She lost her dog ( L O N G story)   My daughter prayed with her right then and there for her and the situation.   A few days went by and the dog returned home ( the circumstances of the story made this nearly an impossible happening)

The friend called crying as she told the story...."Prayer WORKS..  OMG!! PRAYER REALLY WORKS!!"

The Lord WANTS to answer  prayer.  He loves to do it!

I watched a show a long time ago of an interview of some "desperate housewives".  These women were real, everyday, upper middle class women  They were doctor's wives, professional women etc etc.  The one thing they had in common?

They were DESPERATE!

They were addicted to drugs, alcohol, shopping, sex, money, shoplifting and the list goes on.  Seemingly having everything they were empty.

As I watched I dialoged with the Lord,  "Father how would I ever talk to a woman like that...?  Not only would her wall be thick, who am I that she would even listen?"
The Lord replied, " Oh, you only need to introduce them to me and  I WILL DO THE REST!"

He only needs us to put the welcome mat down for Him to walk in  on.
Don't be afraid. (Exodus 4:1)  People are DESPERATE!  Nothing works except the Lord.  He is the only real and lasting answer.

He even will bring a dog back home.
Thank you Lord
Blessings!

Bird's Eye View

Over the past few years a lot of talk was going around about a big revamping of one of the major road ways near my house.  I watched over the months as land was disturbed here and there, traffic redirected and dirt  moved back and forth from one side to another.  Everyone had an opinion but no one really seemed to have the "skinny" on what the final outcome would look like.

Whenever I was in conversation about this my first thought was always "I wish I had a bird's eye view so I could see how it is going to all come together.   I never got the view and never seemed to talk to anyone who knew any real facts.

Today much of the newly built  road way is in existence and now  additional sections seem to be added  to the project.  So what do I know?

Not much!!!

  No one has asked my opinion and if they did I would not have anything profound to say as I have not studied traffic patterns, land makeup etc etc...It's all been looked at already and I'm sure many many meetings have taken place to bring the project to this point.

It's kind of like that with serving the Lord.  We think we have a clue....we don't.  We continue to have specific opinions as to how what is going on is going to affect us and those around us.  Sometimes we fret and or become afraid.

STOP!!! There is NO NEED!!

The Lord, Maker of ALL THE UNIVERSE, has a plan.  He will be sure that it comes together at the right time.  He does not need our assistance. He is CAPABLE and His timing is impeccable!
So...beloved ...put it down.  it will come together...when you least expect it everything will fall into place and you will say "AHA  I see!!"

Rest....it's all taken care of!

Knock on Wood???

Have you ever been telling someone something when you felt like adding "Knock on wood"?

Even as steady Christians we can sometimes blur the Truths of God's Word.   When we say something like "I never get sick",  "My job is really secure",  "This car is a real keeper!"  a whisper says...."Ohoh you are in trouble now ....you've said it out loud"
A friend says, "I never would want to go to Africa." Another pipes in,  "Oh man, that is right where you are going to end up!"

Is our Father a mean God?  Does He toy with us?  Will He pull His blessings at a moments notice?  Does He always do the opposite of what we want or ask?

NO NO NO

Our God is an awesome God, He reigns from heaven above
with wisdom, power and love
Our God is an AWESOME GOD

Jeremiah 29:11

New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Let's break these habits over our lives and remember what the Lord has said.

The PitchFork or the Halo

Many years ago, when I was a new and overwhelmed Mom, I remember a day when I felt I just could not go on. (I'm sure that there were many of these)

I recall sitting and remarking how we should just call the men in the white coats to come and get me so that I could spend the rest of my days in a padded cell.  My mouth kept reminding me that my circumstances were way over my head.  As I sat there crying I pictured that little red devil with a pitchfork and tail standing on my shoulder prompting me on my downward spiral.

I also realized that a "little angel" with wings sat on my other shoulder whispering the truth.  "Get before the Lord" " Don't give up" "Go take a rest"  "His strength will be evident in your weakness"  "He does not need your success and ability only your willingness"

You know I truly believe that that was a deciding day and turning point in my life.I could have had it either way!
  I praise God for His Grace and the prayers that friends and relatives  lifted up on my behalf as I believe with all my heart I had and have the absolute opportunity and decision to take either path...Its simply a choice.

I urge you!!!.....Go with the Messenger of God

The Pond

Years ago I read a book that painted  life as a pond.  When we become stressed, bitter or overwhelmed with anything our pond water riles up and the junk at the bottom gets stirred to the top.  Old tires, fenders, boots etc  come to the surface. All the stuff in our lives that over time have not been dealt with totally, but  have simply been pushed down, rise again when upset comes.
 After a while, when things calm down, all the junk  slowly floats back to the bottom and the pond looks calm and serene  until the next upset.

The writer explained how during the "upsetting" times the Lord wants us to grab the 'stuff" that churns up, the stuff that is hidden out of sight in the muck,  the undealt with stuff that resurfaces again and again.  That "stuff"  clouds our "waters" and  what should be clean  and clear is cloudy and polluted affecting not only our life but our relationships with other as well.

I remember once, years after my husband had left, I was arranging wrapped Christmas presents in a closet for storage.  There were a lot and all of a sudden the whole big pile came crashing down on me .  I was alone and I yelled out crying.  "I hate you! I can't believe you left me with all of this!!"
Obviously  I had some "junk" in my pond that needed my attention.  I recall  finally laying it down at the Lord's feet and asking one more time for the grace to forgive and be forgiven.

With time and diligence my pond has been going "green".  I've been cleaning it up little by little over the years and I find now that others like to come and "draw" from it cause the water is fresh.

How's your eco system doing?  If your pond is polluted  the Lord has the answer.  Start today cleaning it up...He will help and before you know it your life will be an inspiration to others as well!

My Hiding Place!

I'm running...Are you??
When life overwhelms me I run...
when sorrows come I run..

and sometimes
JUST~CAUSE....

I run to His Hiding Place

I found myself a hiding place
I found myself a secret space
In the shelter of Almighty's love
In the safety of the Saviour's arms

Chorus:
I will run to the hiding place
I will run to the hiding place
Draw me ever closer to look upon Your face
I will run to the hiding place

Verse2:
I found myself a hiding place
I found myself a secret space
In the refuge of the Father's care
In the cleansing blood of Jesus there

Chorus:
I will run to the hiding place
I will run to the hiding place
Draw me ever closer to look upon Your face
I will run to the hiding place

Bridge:
Though my fear may overwhelm me
And troubles, they surround
Though
The wind rise up to take me
My hiding place is already found

Verse3:
I found myself a hiding place
I found myself a secret space
In the shelter of Almighty's love
In the safety of the Saviour's arms

Oh, wanna look upon Your face
I will run to the hiding place

You Are NOT Alone

YOU are a CHILD OF THE MOST HIGH GOD!
Your circumstances and situations in this life are NOT who you are!

You have WORTH
You have been MADE IN HIS IMAGE
There is a plan WITH YOUR NAME ON IT
You have access to God at the very mention of HIS name
His arm WILL NEVER be too short
There is NOTHING that is too difficult for Him

You are not alone

Look up.... Listen....He is here  right now.  Your burdens He want to bear.

                                             ~Let HIM~

"I will never leave you or forsake you "  "And remember, I am with you always, day by day, until the Close of the Age"

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Rekindling

1. To relight (a fire).
2. To revive or renew:

I burn wood for my home's heat, lots and lots of wood, 15 cords to be exact.
I know how to start a fire.

My stove is big enough that 90% of the time I am dealing with hot coals that just need to be stoked in the morning. But there are times  the stove goes cold and I need to "rekindle", start from scratch,  begin again, arrange dry chips of wood with some paper and light a match.

Relationships can be that way as well.  They can grow cold and when that happens we need to start over, sometimes from scratch and light a match.

Our relationship with the Lord can also grow cold.  If we do not "feed" the fire continually it will go out.  If a red-hot coal is taken from the fire and placed by itself on the hearth it will lose it color almost immediately and quickly become cold.

Do you need to be rekindled?  Have you grown cold?  Take the "dryness' of your life and ask the Lord to "light" you by the power of the Holy Spirit.  He is able.  HE wants you to burn for Him.  The scripture says a smoldering wick He will not put out.

Humble yourself today, Admit your present state, if it is anything but hot,  ask the Lord to come in and do what only He can do.

Listen to the words of this song.... Don't turn your back on Him He loves you too much!

The Road of Life

At first, I saw God as my observer,

my judge,keeping track of the things I did wrong,

so as to know whether I merited heaven
or hell when I die.
He was out there sort of like a president.
I recognized His picture when I saw it,
but I really didn't know Him.

But later on
when I met Christ,
it seemed as though life was rather like a bike ride,
but it was a tandem bike,
and I noticed that Christ
was in the back helping me pedal.

I don't know just when it was
that He suggested we change places,
but life has not been the same since.

When I had control,
I knew the way.
It was rather boring,
but predictable . . .
It was the shortest distance between two points.

But when He took the lead,
He knew delightful long cuts,
up mountains,
and through rocky places
at breakneck speeds,
it was all I could do to hang on!
Even though it looked like madness,
He said, "Pedal!"

I worried and was anxious
and asked,
"Where are you taking me?"
He laughed and didn't answer,
and I started to learn to trust.

I forgot my boring life
and entered into the adventure.
And when I'd say, "I'm scared,"
He'd lean back and touch my hand.

He took me to people with gifts that I needed,
gifts of healing,
acceptance
and joy.
They gave me gifts to take on my journey,
my Lord's and mine.

And we were off again.
He said, "Give the gifts away;
they're extra baggage, too much weight."
So I did,
to the people we met,
and I found that in giving I received,
and still our burden was light.

I did not trust Him,
at first,
in control of my life.
I thought He'd wreck it;
but He knows bike secrets,
knows how to make it bend to take sharp corners,
knows how to jump to clear high rocks,
knows how to fly to shorten scary passages.

And I am learning to shut up
and pedal
in the strangest places,
and I'm beginning to enjoy the view
and the cool breeze on my face
with my delightful constant companion, Jesus Christ.

And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore,
He just smiles and says . . . "Pedal."

God is in the Midst

Do you see Him?

Some days we really have to look,  focus our eyes and wait for a sighting.  Other times we seem to see HIM at every intersection.  He is visible and we are grateful.

Today is a new day.

Are you looking?  Often our pain and our path cause us to keep our eyes low, watching that we might not stumble.  Lift your head.

HE has said to me, "Don't look with your eyes, or hear with your ears, for I'm doing a work".  Some times we walk simply by faith and faith alone.

Fellow Christian,  Whatever your experience is today......
KNOW  HE is there.

Whether HE allows you to catch a glimpse of Him or not, it does not matter

He IS there.

The scripture says "This is the day that the Lord has made, I WILL rejoice and be glad in it!"   Psalm 118:24

WILL yourself today....to look,  to listen, to believe.
HE will do the rest.

Sitting in the Poison Ivy

As I readied myself to go to a meeting tonight, I heard a voice very clearly drifting through my open window.  Across the street, sitting in the green (poison ivy)  a girl, somewhat agitated, talked on the phone.  I found it interesting as I was on my way to an Advocacy Group for Women caught in Domestic Abuse and as I over heard the conversation across the street, I was allowed into a private corner of this girls life.

She sounded angry and upset.  Her language was peppered with four letter words and on some level she was realizing that her "situation" was not a good one.  She spoke that her whole life was in front of her and she hated the way it was going right now. Fight, fight, fight...

It reminds me of a song I have sung many times

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uZcGaixMhg&feature=related

People Need the Lord!
Everyday they pass me by,
I can see it in their eyes.
Empty people filled with care,
Headed who knows where?

On they go through private pain,
Living fear to fear.
Laughter hides their silent cries,
Only Jesus hears.

People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize, people need the Lord?

We are called to take His light
To a world where wrong seems right.
What could be too great a cost
For sharing Life with one who's lost?

Through His love our hearts can feel
All the grief they bear.
They must hear the Words of Life
Only we can share.

People need the Lord, people need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize that we must give our lives,
For people need the Lord.

Brothers and Sisters

 Take a moment with me and lets pray for this one that the Lord knows.  Pray that her eyes will be open to HIM and that she will step into all that HE has for her. She is not insignificant to HIM and HE  loves her so.
and remember People NEED THE LORD!

The Lord Willing

James 4:13-15

New International Version (NIV)
Boasting About Tomorrow
 13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

I don't think that the Holy Spirit was (is) being picky here.  It is the Lord promoting and teaching us how to live with  a humble spirit.
It is just another area of our lives where we can "bow" before His Sovereignty, admitting that HE is in charge and we ARE NOT.

So friend ~ BOW ~
Bow low and be humble....I, for one, am so glad that I am not in charge and am more than willing to add " The Lord Willing" to the planning of my calendar.

SO!   Lord willing I'll chat with you tomorrow as well!!

Blessings!

Quiet yourself

Today when things seem to spin out of your control
Quiet yourself

After that upsetting telephone call..
Quiet yourself

When thoughts take you captive
Quiet yourself

When the questions far outweigh your answers
Quiet yourself

When your boat is taking on "water"
Quiet yourself.

When life just isn't going as planned
Quiet yourself

Jesus        ~           Savior

He IS the answer
He holds our peace
Choose Him today
Change your focus and perspective
He holds it all and HE is the only thing that matters

He is good ALL THE TIME
He holds YOU

so Quiet yourself dear one and REST

Do Not Fear!

Isaiah 43

( a call to our sons and daughters)
When You're Between a Rock and a Hard Place
 1-4 But now, God's Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
   the One who got you started, Israel:
"Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you.
   I've called your name. You're mine.
When you're in over your head, I'll be there with you.
   When you're in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you're between a rock and a hard place,
   it won't be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
   The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you:
   all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!
That's how much you mean to me!
   That's how much I love you!
I'd sell off the whole world to get you back,
   trade the creation just for you.
 5-7"So don't be afraid: I'm with you.
   I'll round up all your scattered children,
   pull them in from east and west.
I'll send orders north and south:
   'Send them back.
Return my sons from distant lands,
   my daughters from faraway places.
I want them back, every last one who bears my name,
   every man, woman, and child
Whom I created for my glory,
   yes, personally formed and made each one.'"

he does exist....

AND he WANTS YOU!!!

We need to have the right perspective about our enemy.

he is powerful but NOT EVEN CLOSE to as powerful as God (remember he was created BY God) .
he has been given dominion over this earth (Matt 4:8)and has minions at his beck and call (Matt 12:24).
his mission is to take you out, to make you impotent, to confuse you, depress you and render you  useless.
he works tirelessly and is blinded in whole by arrogance and pride.
he is free wheeling in the world but on a leash in the Christian's life.
he can hold you captive using all the "people, places and things" that you have not surrendered to God.
he thrives on sin and darkness.

BUT as for you..... if you have asked the Lord to be Lord of your life, believe that He died on the cross for your sins and  rose again ~ then you have been SAVED!
Saved from what?
Saved from the dominion of the enemy. he will continue to try to convince you that he has rule over you. he will try to wear you down in every area.

REMEMBER!

Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.1John 4:4

Have no fear  if God be for us who can be against us!

So ~ Children of God  stand up, take your places!  The battle HAS BEEN WON
Believe it and walk it out !
Don't be beguiled any longer....The VICTORY is yours!  Live like it!

Blessings!

Identity

Do you find it in your being a wife and mother? (husband/father)
What happens when the children are grown and you  find yourself single?

Is it in your pension plan?
What happens when that money goes up in smoke?

Is it in your ministry?
What happens when someone replaces you?

Is it in your strength or athletic ability?
What happens when you age or no longer can play?

Is it in your family name?
What happens when slander comes?

Is it in your talent?
What happens when your talent rusts and someone comes on the scene better, younger, more equipped?

Are you a self made man or woman?  If you are there is sure to be a day of awakening...something, somewhere, somehow is going to fall flat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John 1:12                                   I am a child of God and I belong to Him.
1 Peter 2:9,
Romans 8:35-39                        I am loved by God and nothing can separate
                                                      me from His love.
Ephesians 1:4                            I am chosen by God.
Colossians 2:13-14                    I am forgiven and my sin-debt is paid.
Philippians  4:13                         I am strengthened for all tasks to which God
                                                      calls me
Romans 5:1                                I have peace with God through my Lord Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 13:5                             I am never alone --- God will not leave me.
To be UNSHAKABLE  our identity must to be in Christ.  To know that HE is intimately involved in each area of my life and that I am made in His image is so assuring.  When I realize that I have made Him my All in All THEN I am complete.  I am unshakable.  I will not topple.  My security is not wrapped up in temporary things, things that can change in an instant.
Farm-Girl
One day years ago, up on the farm, my brothers came into the house to warn my dad that the cows were loose "out".  The boys were given instruction as to what direction they needed to go in and than my dad told me to go to the front of the barn and herd them back.    ME ????!!!!  I was only about 12 at the time and anytime I had been with the cows they were safely hooked up.
 I very timidly went where I was directed and spoke to that big old cow to back up.  She looked at me with those huge brown eyes and the even bigger horns and continued to lumber towards me.  I retreated very quickly back to the safety of the kitchen and my mom.
When  I told dad what happened he said that I just needed to sound like I "meant" it.  ummmmm....but I didn't...I was not given a choice and went back to my place of duty. With a loud voice and clapping of hands  I told that mama cow to "GET BACK"  and you know what?   SHE DID!
I shared with a guest tonite that that lesson has turned out to be valuable and true  in many different areas and ways in my life.
When I first started to quote the promises I spoke them wondering, actually doubting, that the Lord would do anything I said.  I did not realize at that time that the Lord HAS  to be faithful to His Word.  His promises are YES and AMEN (finished)
It is not the sound of my voice, the strength of my might or my knowledge of the Lord that puts things into action.  It is God Himself~His faithfulness!
The Lord wants you to step out.  As you discipline yourself to believe what is written He will make it real.  It is a supernatural happening!
EX:   "I will NOT be anxious !  The scripture says that the Lord will provide for me and I need not fear or worry AMEN!"
I don't wait until I "feel" it I believe it cause HE said it!
Remember those great verses in Joshua 1:8+9
"Study the Scriptures continuously.  Meditate on them day and night so that you will be sure to obey everything written in them  ONLY THEN will you prosper and succeed in all that you do  This is my command: Be strong and courageous. Do not be dismayed or discouraged for the Lord Your God is with you wherever you go!"
Soaking in the Word
This early morning  I was in the garden weeding and digging.  I have had a very tenacious grass that has taken over big patches of my perennial beds.  Its tendancy is to root and travel underground and come up again in another area.  Ugh!
Last night I had watered the garden and when I pulled those same weeds that seemed so immovable before they came right out.  The water had softened the soil and it made a huge difference.
It got me thinking....
We are much better off  when we have been soaking in the Word and prayer.  Sin will have a harder time of getting a "foot hold" in our lives because we have been being reminded as to who we are and Whom we belong to.
It's important.  Don't stray from the teaching of God.  Turn the radio on,  read your Bible,  talk about the Lord with your friends.  Saturate yourself with HIM.  It will make a difference in your garden!
Safe in the Arms of Jesus!
This morning while in prayer with a friend I had a picture come to mind.  I saw you held in the hand of Jesus.  You were sitting in that Palm but worry, stress and strain were written all over your face.
Why?
You were laden, buried under a large burden.  Your arms were shaking and sweat drops on your brow showed that you were nearing the end of your capacity to hold it all together.
Do you see?  When you sit in the hand of Jesus it is FOOLISH to carry any burden.  HE is carrying you ! Thus He has whatever you are carrying as well.
Lay it down...Two don't need to carry the load.  Let Him help you!  While HE carries it you can just lean back and rest.
Don't be silly.  If you are a believer and you declare that HE is holding on to you...Don't continue to hold ANYTHING!  Lay it down!
He is so patient with us!!
Isaiah 42:3
"A bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out...."
HOLD ON.....
You may be on the verge of breaking but God is near.
Your light may have burnt down to a bare spark but your Father knows.
Lift your head and look to Him.
Even if you have made the circumstances that you are in through foolish and wrong choices He (The Way Maker) is simply a whisper away.
He stands and watches.  His eyes are ever on you following your steps closely.  He longs to be your Savior, your ever present Help in your time of trouble.  Shorten your wayward path and turn back.  There is no time like the present.  Why would anyone want to live this present hell one more day?
Recognize the one who would argue, tempt, beguile, confuse and keep you from moving towards the One who made you.  HE is the one who holds the keys to life, freedom and victory.
Break loose today and find someone to walk with you out of the swamp of your present life
He is jealous for me....and you!
Binoculars
Have you ever watched something through a pair of binoculars?  Almost always there is a need for a focus adjustment.  Your index finger moves back or forth a quarter of in inch and everything comes into focus.  Amazing!
That little finger movement illustrates how easy it is to get off focus.  Your day is going fine..You've spent time with the Lord, gotten the family headed in their respective directions and begun your day.  While working, washing the floor, gardening, grocery shopping etc etc a nagging thought comes into your mind.... "You know everyone has a life but you..~. You really are not making a difference at all an ape could do your job.~ Did you realize you were not invited to_____,   ~  so and so did not speak to you in church, ever notice that your sister is so much cuter, smarter, and more put together than you  etc etc"  Pick one or pick them all...whether they are from your subconscious or straight from the pit of hell, "they" all have the same potential; to render you powerless by taking your focus off of the Truth.
Jesus wants our eyes glued onto Him.  Anywhere,one or anything else will not do.  Those thoughts just seem to push us down that slippery slide and render us powerless.
Beloved THIS is why you need to know the Scripture.  Psalm 119:11 :"Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee"   Isaiah 26:3 : "He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed upon Thee"
 Remember my mantra?  I memorized it to combat these things as soon as they come
"It really doesn't matter. I am in the very center of God's Hand.  Nothing and I will repeat NOTHING can come into my sphere of life without HIM seeing it and having a reason for it.  I am safe in my Fathers care."
Prepare yourself for battle!  Think about it before hand and have your weapon ready.  You cannot afford to be unfocused for even a minute.  1 Peter 5:8 : "Your enemy is like a prowling lion seeking whom he can devour"
Now on with your day!
Lack
Haggai 1:5+6
"Give careful thoughts to your ways. You have planted much but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it."   These scriptures were a wake up call to the people given by the prophet Haggai.   Basically the Lord was saying .."You have tended to your own homes while My house is in ruin"
I dare say that many of these same problems can be experienced  today because of the lack of time we spend on His Home in our heart.  We are slaves to busyness and the Lord gets the scraps that are left.
Give careful thought to your ways.  Consider your life.  Where are your priorities?
Matthew 6:33  "Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you!"
Blessings!
