1. To relight (a fire).
2. To revive or renew:
I burn wood for my home's heat, lots and lots of wood, 15 cords to be exact.
I know how to start a fire.
My stove is big enough that 90% of the time I am dealing with hot coals that just need to be stoked in the morning. But there are times the stove goes cold and I need to "rekindle", start from scratch, begin again, arrange dry chips of wood with some paper and light a match.
Relationships can be that way as well. They can grow cold and when that happens we need to start over, sometimes from scratch and light a match.
Our relationship with the Lord can also grow cold. If we do not "feed" the fire continually it will go out. If a red-hot coal is taken from the fire and placed by itself on the hearth it will lose it color almost immediately and quickly become cold.
Do you need to be rekindled? Have you grown cold? Take the "dryness' of your life and ask the Lord to "light" you by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is able. HE wants you to burn for Him. The scripture says a smoldering wick He will not put out.
Humble yourself today, Admit your present state, if it is anything but hot, ask the Lord to come in and do what only He can do.
Listen to the words of this song.... Don't turn your back on Him He loves you too much!
