Empty Mailboxes

Does that sound sad to you?

I conjure up a picture of an elderly person tottering out to the box only to find emptiness, not even a flyer from Walmart.  In this world of high tech the mailbox at the end of the driveway is becoming a relic. A letter with a stamp and a hand written address is a rarity.

Think about it.

God, the Maker of the Universe and More took the time to write us a letter.  He had (has) things to tell us, things that He knew (knows) we need to know.  Not only does His Word never get old, It is active, living and always relevant.

Another kind of sad picture is a mailbox over stuffed with letters, newspapers and flyers, some hanging out wet and yellowed with age.  What does that mean?  The person must be away, out of town, sick or just doesn't care.
Yes the majority of the stuff probably does not matter but there may be a note in there that could change a life's course.

Have you checked your "mailbox" lately?  I know for certain that there is a love letter and some good words of instruction waiting just for you.

Blessings!

Words of Life

For years my prayer has been that the Lord would allow me to be a "life speaker".  One who encourages, speaks hope, love and compassion.   It is very easy to fall into the negative, half empty type of speech that does not build anyone up.

Listen to yourself today and hear what you have to say...how you respond to the people around you, your family and co-workers.

I pray that your speech will be seasoned with grace and wisdom today and that it will show evidence that you have been in HIS presence!

Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life
Let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life
Words of life and beauty teach me faith and duty

Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life

Christ, the blessed One, gives to all wonderful words of life
Sinner, list to the loving call, wonderful words of life
All so freely given, wooing us to heaven

Sweetly echo the Gospel call, wonderful words of life
Offer pardon and peace to all, wonderful words of life
Jesus, only Savior, sanctify us forever

The Lord Willing

James 4:13-15

New International Version (NIV)
Boasting About Tomorrow
13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

I don't think that the Holy Spirit was (is) being picky here.  It is the Lord promoting and teaching us how to live with  a humble spirit.
It is just another area of our lives where we can "bow" before His Sovereignty, admitting that HE is in charge and we ARE NOT.

So friend ~ BOW ~
Bow low and be humble....I, for one, am so glad that I am not in charge and am more than willing to add " The Lord Willing" to the planning of my calendar.

SO!   Lord willing I'll chat with you tomorrow as well!!

Blessings!

A Sip at a Time

While my 94 year old mom was just visiting, I noticed a part of her daily routine was to fill her water glass with water, ice and a straw and carry it with her wherever she went.  She did this numerous times throughout the day. It went with her in the car and up and down stairs.  It remained beside her as she watched TV or read a book. She would stop and take little sips every once in a while.  I believe that at the end of any given day she may have "sipped" 16 oz of water, yet she felt like it was a large part of her diet.

She carried water yet remained dehydrated.

It made me think about the Word.  I have numerous Bibles.  They are everywhere, on my desk, book case, car, side table and in my purse.  Always available.  Yet I can remain dehydrated ~ dry ~ unchanged.  A sip here and there is not enough.  To remain healthy  we need big "swigs" of the Word.  Times when we just drink it in!
Join me:  Lord I pray for  thirst.  A renewed thirst for Your Word.  Let me realize the amount of my daily "intake"  that I might re access my  spiritual health. Fill me to overflowing Lord that my life may be brimming with Your truth.

Friend, look closely at your "habit"  Are you fooling yourself because you are surrounded by the Word?
Recently I heard the Daily Bread called the Daily Crouton ~  and although I enjoy that little book it is not enough to feed us.   Let's reassess  ourselves today and check on our spiritual health....our thirst for the Word and the appropriate "drinking" amounts!

Blessings!
